First open iPhoto, and in the menu bar go to iPhoto »Preferences.

In the general settings window, you’ll see that the Connecting camera opens option is set to iPhoto by default. Since your iDevice has a camera, iPhoto will recognize it as such and open the application every time you plug it in. Click the drop down menu and select No Application.

Once this is set, close iPhoto and launch iTunes. Plug your iPhone into your computer, and click on your iDevice under the Devices heading in the left column.

Uncheck the box that says Open iTunes when this iPhone is connected in the options area on the right side.

Then Click Apply.

Now you can plug in your iDevice without bogging your system down as it launches iTunes and iPhoto. This is handy if you just want to charge your iDevice. You can uncheck having iTunes open when connecting your iDevice in Windows too. Comment Name * Email *
